Charles Leclerc has said that his crash at the French Grand Prix was his own fault, but Nico Rosberg found the incident strange. The former Formula 1 driver thinks there is more to the crash and that it was not just his own fault.

"I really think it's premature for Leclerc to take the blame. Unusual for that to happen. One thing could be that at that point the wind suddenly comes from the rear. An unlucky gust could take away 20% of downforce. That could be something they need to look at. Also, look at the engine. I cannot believe it would be a driver mistake. I find it strange that he wasn't able to go on the throttle, the front wing was broken but surprised he couldn't get out and continue," Rosberg told Sky Sports.

For a while, it looked like something was wrong with Ferrari's car, but Leclerc confirmed after the race that he finished his own race. At Ferrari, however, the race was still not optimal after the Monegasque's crash. Carlos Sainz was given a five-second time penalty for an unsafe release on the pit lane. As a result, he ended up finishing fifth, despite the Spaniard looking fast on the track.

Rosberg dismayed after Ferrari performance

In the closing stages of the race, Sainz went to battle with Sergio Perez, but Ferrari informed him in the middle of the fight that he had to come in.

"I was shaking my head. What on earth are they doing? First of all, he was in the middle of a huge battle. His team weren't watching that. They had their heads down with doing their calculations. And they were talking to him in the middle of the wheel to wheel action. Carlos was P3, comfortably he would've been able to stay there. Tyres would've been fine. Then they bring him in with no chance to go beyond P5. What on earth is going on? It's time they made some serious changes there," Rosberg responded in disbelief.
