Christian Horner is amazed at the good form of his team Red Bull Racing and its drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, but is taking a strong Ferrari and even Mercedes seriously at Silverstone. The team boss hopes to put right what happened in England last year.

Last year's British Grand Prix saw Verstappen retire early in the race. The Dutchman collided with seven-time world champion Hamilton and hit the wall hard. Although Mercedes and Red Bull are not that close anymore this year and Mercedes is far behind the two fastest teams, Horner hopes to make up for what happened last year this weekend. Jos Verstappen has also already reported that there is still a score to settle at Silverstone for the reigning world champion.

Horner has not forgotten Silverstone 2021

It is possible that Mercedes are closer to Ferrari and Red Bull than expected. Horner spoke ahead of the GP at Silverstone with Formula1.com: "Silverstone was very difficult for us last year. We came there with a good lead then, this year we will come here again with a lead, so it is important to keep full focus. It's an incredible run of races we've had and the drivers and team are doing a great job."

Horner finally said that he is counting on a strong Mercedes, but that he will also make short work of the team if they come close: "I am sure there is huge support for the Mercedes drivers from the fans, but we will go there in strong form and try to put right what happened last year."
