The number three in the current Formula 2 championship gets to gain experience in a Formula 1 car this week. The Indian driver gets to test for McLaren and seems particularly excited.

Daruvala gets first chance in F1 car

The 23-year-old Daruvala has never driven a Formula 1 car before and is currently in his third season in F2. High time for the Prema Racing driver to get a taste of the cars in the king class of motorsport. The Indian driver started his professional career as a junior in the training program of then Force India. Meanwhile, Daruvala is driving as a junior for Red Bull Racing. From the tweet posted by the driver, it appears that the Red Bull Junior Team has helped him with this test spot at McLaren.

Daruvala writes, "Very excited and grateful for the opportunity to have my first experience in a Formula One car with McLaren this week! Many thanks to the Red Bull Junior Team, my family, my support team, Mumbai Falcons, McLaren and to everyone who has supported me throughout my career." At 23 years old, Daruvala is no longer the youngest driver and already has quite a bit of experience in racing. Yet we don't hear his name in the 'silly season' rumour mill yet. Maybe his first ride in an F1 car can change that. After all, Red Bull Racing is not afraid to make quick choices and throw drivers into the deep.
