Formula 1 is more popular than ever. Races are watched en masse via television, many Grands Prix are completely sold out. Drive to Survive, the series on Netflix, is among the reasons for this. The epic title fight between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton also had positive effects.

In the spotlight

Formula 1 could not wish for more, now that the sport is in the spotlight. But so much success should not allow F1's management to rest on its laurels, believes Christian Horner in conversation with CNN. The Red Bull Racing team boss hopes that the current championship will produce as much drama as the previous one.

" As long as we hold Grands Prix on Sundays and it remains a race of man and machine on the limit, that's what it's all about," Horner says. "Of course it will evolve. Everything evolves in life. I think Formula 1 is going through that evolution right now."

Dream

Unlike a lot of drivers, Horner is happy with Drive to Survive because it has led to an introduction to the sport for new fans. Yet only the series in itself was not the cause of the arrival of more fans. After all, without the fight between Hamilton and Verstappen, it might all have been less exciting on TV and interest would also have been lower. Not for nothing does Horner call the past year a producer's dream.
