It was not a good qualifying session for the Dutch Formula E drivers. Both Nyck de Vries and Robin Frijns were not allowed to advance to the duels. In the end, the pole position went to Eduardo Mortara.

Dutch are disappointing

In Group A, it was Pascal Wehrlein, Stoffel Vandoorne, Eduardo Mortara and Sergio Sette Camara were allowed to advance to the duels. In Group B, it was Antonio Felix Da Costa, André Lotterer, Jean-Eric Vergne and Alexander Sims. Sébastien Buemi was supposed to be allowed through instead of Sims, but the Swiss's time was removed at the last minute.

This means that both Frijns and De Vries did not make the duels. Both drivers had a moment where they locked a wheel on their last lap. De Vries is back on P12 and Frijns will have to start from the last row of the grid later this afternoon.

Exact same time in a semi-final

The duels were incredibly exciting. Sims, who was not allowed to advance to the duels, managed to beat Wehrlein in his quarterfinal and then came up against Vergne in the semi-final. The two drivers drove exactly the same time, but Sims was allowed to go through. The Briton drove his time first. Mortara is the other finalist.

For a long time it seemed that Sims would beat Mortara in the final, but the Swiss set a very strong last sector. Mortara will therefore start on pole for the first time in his career.
