Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff is excited about the prospect of this years' title challenge, as both Ferrari and Red Bull look stronger than ever in contrast to Mercedes, who are the only team of the 'Big Three' who still haven't won a race.

It's the first time in the hybrid era that Mercedes has gone three consecutive races without winning, which shows how strong the field is this year. Lewis Hamilton is only nine points behind championship leader Sebastian Vettel though, so there's definitely still more than enough time for Mercedes to flex their muscles.

"Last year we were in a tough fight with Ferrari," Wolff told BBC Sport.

"However, it was nothing compared to the intensity of this year's battle.

"Not everyone likes this kind of challenge but we love it."

Wolff knows that Mercedes will probably have the most reliable car at the end of the season when engine penalties for changing parts will come into play. Last season, Vettel led the championship for the first twelve races, but Hamilton's killer consistency eventually proved too much for both Vettel and Ferrari as the Briton ran away with his fourth title.

"So far, this year has all the ingredients for one of those legendary F1 seasons - a season that fans will look back on with smiles on their faces in years to come," Wolff concluded.
