Kevin Magnussen seemed to have no part in Formula 1 this season until Haas parted ways with Nikita Mazepin. It ensured that Magnussen will be a teammate of Mick Schumacher in 2022, a driver in whom he sees a lot of talent.

Schumacher made his debut for the American racing stable last season. However, Haas chose to put its full focus on the following year, in which new regulations would apply, making it difficult for Schumacher to perform. He failed to finish in the points throughout the season.

Schumacher experiences a difficult season at Haas

This season he hopes to turn the situation around, but during the first three Grands Prix, he did not succeed yet. Schumacher, like Lance Stroll, Nico Hulkenberg and Nicholas Latifi, has yet to score any points for his team and has been criticized for his performance. According to Magnussen, however, his teammate has enough qualities to succeed in Formula 1.

"It’s kind of tough because he has this surname," he told Formula1.com. "His dad is the biggest Formula 1 driver ever, and some people may think that he is here just because he is a Schumacher – but he really has to what it takes to be here."
