Red Bull Racing seems to have an advantage over Ferrari in the slow corners. Max Verstappen's team is using a unique front suspension this year, something that expert Craig Scarborough says may give them an advantage.

"You can't look at one feature and exclude that as the reason that you know the car is doing well or not. That front suspension of Red Bull could be really helping them get close to Ferrari, maybe the rest of the car is the weakness", Scarborough says in conversation with Formula 1 journalist Peter Windsor in his new YouTube video.

"Red Bull has this really unusual suspension where if you look at the front top wishbone, normally it’s almost horizontal, maybe with a little tilt backwards. Red Bull have really tilted it severely, sloped downwards towards the center of the car", the F1 expert continues.

Red Bull's remarkable solution

This solution would cause many changes in 'camber and caster'. Camber is the angle of the tyres relative to the asphalt, while caster is about the ability of the wheels to move forward and backward relative to the car. The solution would potentially ensure that the RB18 has more grip in the slow corners, something that is also reflected in the data. Ferrari, on the other hand, looks faster in the faster corners.

"It’s something that at this stage no one can copy, so if it is something that is a key solution, then it’s going to be next year before anyone else gets a chance to catch up on that advantage."
