Pierre Gasly thinks it is often not fair how things work in Formula 1. According to the Frenchman, the cars make a big difference, which means it is far from always possible for drivers to make the difference. He tells Mashup.

Last season, the front and back of the driver field was usually predetermined. Where Red Bull Racing and Mercedes fought together for the front places, Haas, Alfa Romeo and Williams often failed to stay away from the back positions.

Although Gasly had an excellent season with AlphaTauri, in which he finished ninth in the world championship, he realizes better than anyone how difficult it sometimes is for drivers to compete with their car. That is why, according to Gasly, drivers are not always rightly criticized for their performance.

Gasly takes Hamilton as an example

In the interview, Gasly states that Hamilton would also be at a loss if he were at another team. "Even if Lewis is the best driver in F1 history, today, in a Williams or a Haas, he would finish last," Gasly judges. "It’s not even that he would be third or fifth, he would be 18th or 16th."
