Red Bull Racing and Porsche are nearing an agreement for a collaboration starting in 2026. This reports Motorsport-total.com after learning from reliable sources that a deal is imminent.

Volkswagen Group in F1

It is no longer a secret that the Volkswagen Group wants to enter Formula 1 starting in 2026 and possibly put forward Audi and Porsche as brands to enter the sport. From the very first moment Porsche was linked to Red Bull Racing, but there was never any official mention of these talks. However, according to the German medium, these talks are now nearing an agreement.

For Porsche, the deal with Red Bull would be ideal. The Austrian racing team is working on a completely new factory to build the engine and is based in Milton Keynes. This saves Porsche a lot of costs, although there is also talk of a double plant, where work would be split between the two.

In addition, an increased role for Porsche would be considered. The German manufacturer would not only join the project as an engine partner, but would also become a shareholder in the company. It remains to be seen, however, whether Dietrich Mateschitz is willing to sell shares in his team. According to Motorsport-total.com, more clarity may emerge as early as the beginning of May this year, only Volkswagen's top management must still agree to the collaboration.

In addition to Porsche, Audi is also planning to enter Formula 1, but the talks with Williams and McLaren respectively are not yet as far along as the talks between Red Bull and Porsche.
