Intense duel between Verstappen and Hamilton is normal: "Part of the game"

Nyck de Vries is driving his third season in Formula E this year, but having a spot on the Formula 1 grid certainly remains a dream. Yet in an interview with Laola1.at  he explained that he is putting his goal aside for now.

For a long time it seemed that we would have two Dutch Formula 1 drivers. The name of the Formula E driver was often mentioned and several people were hoping that he would indeed get a seat at Alfa Romeo. In the end it remained a rumour, because Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou are driving for that team this year.

Still, the Dutchman is happy that his name has been mentioned, because it shows that he has a chance. The only thing he can do at the moment is win a lot of races and secure more titles. The Mercedes EQ driver is not giving up, because Formula 1 is and will remain the goal after all. "I would be lying if I said I'm not aiming for Formula 1 anymore or giving up on my dream, but I'm [just] not actively working on it anymore."

Season finale

The season finale in Abu Dhabi was a tricky dilemma for the Dutch Formula E driver. One driver is his countryman, but the other his kind of his teammate. After all, De Vries drives for Mercedes EQ in Formula E. In the end, he is mostly grateful for the great battle. "The fact that it became very intense is 'part of the game'. It was clear that the duel would go beyond the track," said the Dutchman.
