Nyck de Vries has managed to win the first Formula E race of the season. The Dutchman is happy that after a mediocre Friday, he immediately took the full prize. That teammate Stoffel Vandoorne was also on the podium, De Vries finds a good thing.

"It's a big relief to be honest," he kicks off in the podium interview. In free practice he parked his Mercedes car in the wall after only three laps, so the preparation was anything but smooth."With that I made it a lot harder for myself and for the team to be able to prepare properly for today."

Fortunately for De Vries, there was another free practice session on Friday morning. "We used that well and qualifying went well. That we win here, a one-two even, is great for the team." The driver from Sneek was able to win because something went wrong for Vandoorne when activating his attack mode."That's unfortunate, but I'm happy for the team," said De Vries.

The second race in Diriyah is scheduled for Saturday. Again, the drivers will then start a 45-minute race plus one lap a little after 6:00 pm.
