Sao Paulo Governor Joao Doria Jr is adamant that Formula 1 will remain in the Brazilian city at Interlagos despite no deal being reached to extend their contract.
The Brazilian president said earlier this year that a new circuit was being built in Rio de Janeiro and that the Brazilian Grand Prix would move back to the city in the neighbourhood of Deodoro. However, Sean Bratches shut down this rumour saying he was "flattered".
Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos has been a mainstay at Interlagos since 1991. However, the future of the race is very much up in the air.
The governor of Sao Paulo has revealed they are in talks to extend the contract at Interlagos but a deal is yet to be reached.
"We are currently in negotiations with Liberty Media for Formula One to continue driving in Sao Paulo," he said as quoted by MotorsportTotal.com.
