Sebastien Buemi finished the first free practice in Sao Paulo as the fastest man. He was followed by Sacha Fenestraz and Dan Ticktum. Fourth was Stoffel Vandoorne, despite his early contact with the wall. The returning Robin Frijns finished the practice in last place.

FP1 Formula E Sao Paulo

Not long after the light turned green for the weekend's first free practice session, Vandoorne found himself in the wall. As a result, his DS Penske car sustained some damage, but it did not mark the end of the session for the 30-year-old Belgian, who would eventually record the fourth fastest time.
For Frijns, it was his first Formula E session in over two months. The Dutchman was making his return to the class after a lengthy recovery from the hand and wrist fracture he suffered in the first ePrix of the year in Mexico. Frijns finished the practice in last place.
