Sacha Coenen will attempt to take part in this weekend's MXGP of Great Britain in Foxhills after breaking his collarbone in a brutal crash just six days ago.
The 19-year old suffered a broken collarbone last weekend when he and his brother went to Southwick to contest in the AMA Pro Motocross championship. Sacha, who comfortably won the first Moto, was leading Moto 2 by around 14 seconds when the crash took place. Remarkably, the young Belgian not only remounted his bike, but pulled away once again from New Zealand's Cole Davies and ended up winning by a decent margin.
His older brother Lucas had a similarly turbulent weekend when he crashed on the opening lap but spectacularly swept through the field and got himself back up to P4 behind Haiden Deegan and the Lawrences. However, a second crash for Lucas ended his weekend early as KTM decided it was better not to risk him further considering the MXGP race this weekend.
Sacha currently leads the MX2 standings by 14 points ahead of France's Guillerm Farres. Lucas, on the other hand, has a 68-point lead over Dutch legend Jeffrey Herlings, which he extended slightly at the last MXGP round in South Africa two weeks ago.
FIM give their verdict on Sacha Coenen injury

Following a successful operation on Monday morning, Sacha was targetting a return at this weekend's British GP at Foxhill. Following a medical checkup yesterday evening, he has been deemed fit to participate in the weekend and was spotted making his way out for Free Practice this morning.
The decision is a remarkable one considering the seriousness of the injury, but it is equally impressive that the teenager has the fortitude to continue just one week after such a brutal crash.
