Ricciardo: "Crash was my fault, but I don't do this kind of thing very often"

In the second free practice session on Friday it was Daniel Ricciardo who shot off the track in turn nine. The Australian lost control of his Renault and ended up backwards in the pile of tyres. After the crash he didn't walk completely smoothly and bumped into Motorsport.com saying he's all right, except for his knee.

"I hit the steering column with my knee when I hit the wall, so that bothers me a bit. But they looked at it very carefully and fortunately it's nothing serious. Luckily I'm okay but the car did have a hit", Ricciardo reveals. The car shot full with the back in the wall and for the team it will take a long time to repair everything.

"I still have to see what exactly went wrong. It all happened so fast. I know I was steering in and at the moment of steering in, there was a little bit of wind that might have helped me lose the rear," Ricciardo looks back on his accident.

"Nothing broke off on the car, so it was clearly my fault. But luckily I don't do this kind of thing very often, but I have to say sorry to my team". Ricciardo will hope that there will be action on the track today, because he couldn't set a time due to his crash. However, due to the upcoming rain, the question is whether there will be racing today.
