This F1 team also signs up to WEC, Kubica with Ferrari after 12 year wait

The World Endurance Championship (WEC) is increasingly becoming a championship in which Formula 1 manufacturers are finding their place. After Aston Martin already announced they will be active in WEC from '24, McLaren are also joining. They will do so in the GT class with the United Autosport team, co-owned by Zak Brown (CEO of McLaren).

The FIA has announced which manufacturers will compete in WEC next season. They are Alpine, Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Isotta Fraschini, Lamborghini, Lexus, McLaren, Peugeot, Porsche and Toyota. The first names of drivers who will drive for the teams have also been confirmed.

Former F1 driver Robert Kubica will become one of the drivers in AF Corse's Ferrari, which will become a customer of the Italian marque with a hypercar. Kubica thus gets a chance at Ferrari after he missed out 12 years ago due to a serious injury to the Pole. At the time, Kubica was to become one of the Formula 1 team's drivers.

Valentino Rossi is also on the FIA's entry list. The former MotoGP world champion will drive for Belgian Team WRT. He will do so in the GT class. Last week it was also announced that Mick Schumacher has been contracted by Alpine. The Mercedes F1 reserve driver will start working in a hypercar. Nyck de Vries has been contracted by world champion Toyota.
