Race 2 in the 250 class at Hangtown got off to a terrible start for more than half the field as a massive pile up brought down several riders. Seth Hammaker, who won the first Moto, made a mistake on the opening corner and caused a huge pile up, leaving New Zealand's Cole Davies to clear off ahead.
The crash could have big consequences for Hammaker, who currently leads the 250 championship standings. Despite the huge incident, no riders appeared to be seriously injured, and many of them rejoined to continue the race.
Despite instigating the crash and taking a large impact from about eight other bikes, Hammaker rallied to a P9 finish. The race was ultimately won by Davies, with Levi Kitchen finishing in second and taking the overall.
