In action today is the final stage of the WRC Rally in Croatia. Sebastien Ogier, the man who was leading yesterday's final stage, got involved in a rather strange collision on the public road.
The footage was captured by a fan on the sidelines, and shows Ogier trying to change lanes on the public road with his rally car, after which he was hit by a BMW trying to overtake.
The damage appears to be minimal, however, and Ogier quickly continued his race after the hit, although the Frenchman did not manage to maintain his lead over the rest of the field. The lead was instead handed to Belgium's Elfyn Evans, who was still 6.9 seconds behind Ogier on Saturday. Only the last stage of the Rally is still to be driven, and will determine the winner.

Damage unavoidable

Ogier's team, Toyota Yaris, has now also come out with a statement. They state that the aerodynamics have been affected by the collision, but don't charge the driver with anything. "I know Sebastien very well and this incident was definitely not giving you the best feeling to start the stages – but he is a professional and he has done a fantastic job in that sense [after the accident]," the team said to Motorsport.com.
