Toyoharu Tanabe has admitted he is disappointed for several reasons that the weather was so bad during the first day of the Grand Prix at the Nurburgring. The fans had to go home without having seen anything and Honda were unable to collect data from the circuit where Formula 1 hasn't been driven for seven years.
"It’s unfortunate that we could not run at all today at this first Eifel GP, as conditions were too poor for the medical helicopter to fly," Tanabe said in a conversation with the official channels of Honda.
Above all, it's a pity for the fans who came in large numbers for the first two sessions of the weekend. "For the second consecutive race, fans have been allowed into the grandstands here and it was a shame they did not get to see any cation, having waited patiently all day."
"This is the first weekend on this track in the hybrid era, so the three hours of practice would have been very important in terms of gathering data," he says. "But the situation is the same for all the teams and now we hope to do as much running as possible in FP3 in order to prepare for qualifiying and the race."
