A short update on the situation of Alex Zanardi shows that the doctors who take care of the racing legend do not want to paint a picture of his neurological condition until at least next week.
The unfortunate handbiker was badly injured in a training accident last week. He's in critical condition at the hospital where he's being kept in a coma after surgery last Friday. The former F1 rider was successful at the Paralymic Games after his career. Here he won two gold medals.
It is difficult for the doctors to give a prognosis as long as he is in a coma. In order to evaluate his status they have to reduce the anaesthetic and according to an insider opposite The Race this will only happen after the weekend. Then there will be a better picture of the permanent damage the former F1 driver has suffered. There is a significant fear of continued brain damage the doctors have indicated at an earlier stage.
