'Verstappen changes engine and takes extra grid penalty!'

It was already coming, but Motorsport.com has now reported that Max Verstappen will get a new engine in his car in Sochi. With that, the Dutchman picks up an extra grid penalty on top of the one he brought back from Monza.

The Dutchman's session was not flawless. Verstappen drove short stints on the softest tire and complained over his on-board radio about his car's charging system.

Whether there is actually something wrong with it is not known, but according to the Italian branch of Motorsport.com, at the end of the first session in Russia they were already replacing Verstappen's power unit.

It is still waiting for official confirmation from the team itself, but it seems likely that the engine will indeed be replaced.
