F1 Announces 2027 Calendar as Bahrain Testing Dates and British GP Weekend Are Set

The season will begin with pre-season testing in Bahrain from 24-27 February, at the Sakhir circuit. The first Grand Prix weekend follows at the same venue on 12-14 March, with Bahrain also hosting the season’s opening Sprint. Saudi Arabia is next, at Jeddah on 19-21 March, before the championship moves to Australia for the 2-4 April weekend in Melbourne.

That opening sequence puts Bahrain at the centre of F1’s early-season plans. It also offers teams a compact transition from the four-day test to the first competitive weekend. However, amid the tension in the Middle East, these dates could be subject to change, with alternative venues lined up.

The calendar then moves through China, Miami, Canada and Monaco, before Portugal returns at Portimão on 18-20 June. The Algarve venue is one of two prominent additions, alongside Istanbul, which is listed for 1-3 October. The Turkish round will take place at Istanbul Park as the race rejoins the schedule for 2027.

For British fans, the crucial date is 2-4 July. Silverstone will host the British Grand Prix on that weekend, and it is scheduled as a Sprint event. The race sits between Portugal and Austria, creating a demanding European stretch before Belgium, Hungary, Italy and Spain follow across the summer.

There are 10 Sprint weekends in all, confirming the GPBlog exclusive that Monaco would receive a sprint race. The full list is: Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Canada, Monaco, Great Britain, Italy, Brazil, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Those events will add an extra competitive session to some of the season’s most significant venues.

The closing phase starts with Singapore on 8-10 October, then takes in Austin, Mexico City, São Paulo and Las Vegas. Qatar hosts the penultimate round at Lusail on 3-5 December, also with a Sprint, before the championship concludes in Abu Dhabi.

The 2027 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is scheduled for 10-12 December at Yas Marina, with a Sprint weekend bringing the season to a close. That places the finale a week later than Qatar and maintains Yas Marina’s place as the final stop.

The only listed break longer than a fortnight comes after the Hungarian Grand Prix, before racing resumes at Monza as F1 takes its summer shutdown.
