An unknown incident has led to a red flag at the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
Max Verstappen has yet to take part in the race this Saturday afternoon in the German Eifel. His teammate Lucas Auer started in the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo and was running in ninth place.
Verstappen will sit behind the wheel of the Mercedes car later today.

Around 30 minutes into the session, the first race of the weekend has been red-flagged. The ambulance also entered the track.

Race control said the incident involved seven cars, including the #27 Aston Martin, #111 BMW, #121 BMW, #410 Porsche, #448 Porsche, #503 Toyota, and #992 Porsche. An oil leak is said to have led to the pileup. The barrier now needs to be repaired as well before the session could continue.
Unfortunately, Juha Miettinen, driver of the #121 car, has passed away. The race has now been cancelled.
