Former MotoGP and current WSBK Honda rider Somkiat Chantra was taken to hospital after a sickening crash in FP3 of the Dutch round this weekend in Assen.
The bizarre and worrying incident left the Thai rider in visible pain on the track, but thankfully medical teams were quickly on the scene to attend to him.
The crash occurred between turns 5 and 6 after the rear wheel of the bike appeared to slide out from underneath him, then strike him in the groin or stomach with extreme force.
Chantra joined the Honda WSBK team this season after an unsuccessful stint at the LCR satellite MotoGP team. So far, the season hasn't got off to the best start, and he has already missed the opening rounds due to injury.
