Talking to GPblog, Helmut Marko confirmed that he has to consider whether he will still work with Red Bull Racing and in Formula 1 next year. For now, the disappointment over missing out on a fifth world title with Max Verstappen prevails.
Right after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, reports emerged that Marko is unsure about continuing. Answering GPblog's question, the advisor first said, “It's not in doubt, I will have a discussion and then I see what I do.”
Marko did not want to say what reasons there might be for him to step away. “It's a complex [set] of different things,” he explained.

Marko has not 'achieved his goals'

To a follow-up question—namely, what his heart says at this moment—the Austrian gave a somewhat evasive answer. Marko continued: “It's bloody difficult to get a fifth championship in a row. All the planning and the vision and all this. If circumstances… You have to perform, you can't make mistakes. That's the result."
He added: "It's a disappointment for me [that] I didn't achieve the goal."
With those last lines, Marko seems to imply that—as often happens in sports—he should draw his conclusions if the objectives are not met. He concluded: “I have to see, I have to sleep on it and then we'll see.”
