Lewis Hamilton was not handed a grid penalty after he was investigated by the FIA stewards for an alleged impeding incident after Qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix.
Similar to the Sprint, Hamilton will start the Canadian Grand Prix from fifth place. After the conclusion of Q3, the seven-time world champion was summoned to the stewards for allegedly impeding Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman also agreed that he was not unnecessarily held up by Hamilton into Turn 8, therefore, there will be no further consequences for the Ferrari driver.
The stewards wrote: "The driver of Car 44 explained that he was under the impression that Car 10 was not on a push lap, and his team confirmed that it had the same opinion. The driver and team representative of Car 10 stated they did not consider this to be a case of “unnecessary impeding”. The Stewards therefore determined to take no further action."

Lance Stroll also avoids grid penalty for impeding

The Canadian was also investigated for an alleged impeding case in Q1. Nico Hulkenberg also acknowledged that it was not a case of "unnecessary impeding", and Stroll was also not handed any penalties as a result.
The stewards explained: "The driver of Car 18 advised that he saw Car 27 approaching but knew that he did not have the power at that stage of the lap, to move ahead quickly. He also believed that if he tried to move off the racing line (i.e. to the left) he felt he would risk loss of control because he had previously run onto the grass at a prior turn, and that, combined with the track on the left being “dirty”, would not have provided sufficient traction. The driver of Car 27 (via written submission) and the team representative of Car 27 both agreed that this was not a case of “unnecessary impeding”. Accordingly the Stewards decide to take no further action."
