BREAKING: Perez extends contract at Red Bull Racing

Sergio Perez has extended his contract at Red Bull Racing. The Mexican has proven himself with his victory in Azerbaijan. In 2022 he will join Max Verstappen as a teammate.

Perez finally got his chance at a top team in 2021, after his 'first chance' completely failed at McLaren in 2014. In 2021, however, Perez is a lot further along in his development as a driver, and has already shown great things. For example, he was ahead of Verstappen in qualifying in Imola, and won the race in Azerbaijan after Verstappen dropped out.

Yet there was also criticism on Perez. The Mexican is said to be delivering little more than what Alexander Albon and Pierre Gasly have shown in the last two years. Red Bull Racing does not think so, as Gasly is performing well at AlphaTauri and the team has decided to continue with Perez.
