F1 2026 mid-season team-mate battles: Who's winning the head-to-heads?

After 11 races, the team-mate battles have produced a fascinating mix of dominant performances and closely fought contests. McLaren has seen one of the tightest pairings on the grid, with reigning world champion Lando Norris holding a narrow 7-4 edge over Oscar Piastri in qualifying, while Piastri has turned the tables on Sundays with a slender 6-5 advantage.

Mercedes has been slightly less balanced, with Kimi Antonelli holding a 7-4 advantage over George Russell in both qualifying and races, underlining the rookie's impressive first half of the campaign. Ferrari has delivered another closely contested intra-team battle, as Charles Leclerc leads Lewis Hamilton 6-5 in qualifying, but Hamilton has edged ahead by the same scoreline in race head-to-heads. Red Bull, meanwhile, has been far more one-sided, with Max Verstappen comfortably outperforming Isack Hadjar by an 8-3 margin in both qualifying and races.

The midfield has also featured several clear trends. Carlos Sainz has largely had the upper hand over Alex Albon at Williams, particularly over one lap, where he leads 9-2, although the race battle has remained much closer at 6-5.

Liam Lawson has established himself as the stronger Racing Bulls driver, especially on Sundays, where he holds an 8-3 advantage over rookie Arvid Lindblad. Fernando Alonso has dominated Lance Stroll at Aston Martin, leading 9-2 in qualifying while also maintaining a commanding edge in races. At Haas, Oliver Bearman has enjoyed a similarly convincing first half of the season, beating Esteban Ocon 8-3 in qualifying and 7-4 in races.

Further down the order, Alpine has produced one of the more interesting contrasts, with Pierre Gasly dominating Franco Colapinto in qualifying by a 9-2 margin, only for the Argentine to reduce the gap significantly in races, where he trails just 6-5.

Audi has also seen a reversal between Saturdays and Sundays, as Nico Hulkenberg narrowly leads Gabriel Bortoleto 6-5 in qualifying, while the Brazilian has enjoyed the stronger race record with a convincing 7-4 advantage. Cadillac rounds out the grid with another competitive pairing, Sergio Perez edging Valtteri Bottas 6-5 in qualifying before extending his lead to 6-3 in race head-to-heads.
