Frederic Vasseur has never been seen as angry as he was in Las Vegas. The Ferrari team boss exploded in Las Vegas after Carlos Sainz saw his car destroyed by a loose cover. The Spaniard even had to incur a grid penalty due to the need to replace the monocoque, much to Vasseur's annoyance. Months later, the blunder during the Las Vegas Grand Prix has certainly not been forgotten and forgiven by Ferrari.
Especially under the cost cap, any damage is too much. The loosened manhole cover in free practice in Las Vegas caused Ferrari a reported $2 million worth of damage. Vasseur was already calling for financial compensation in the US city because it wasn't the fault of the team or driver.

Meanwhile, the 2024 season is about to start, but the organisers of the Las Vegas Grand Prix - which happen to be Formula 1 themsleves - have not yet reached an agreement. Vasseur assumes this will still happen, he told the media on Tuesday, including GPblog.
"We are still in talks, it is work in progress, so to speak (laughs). But I think such a time span is normal in cases like this. So I am not worried, we are going to find a solution." In other words: Vasseur is confident that there will be a party - like the organiser - who will pick up the tab. "I think this is the normal and logical outcome, and we are working on that."
