Romain Grosjean was almost caught up in the fire last week following his extreme crash in Bahrain. In an extensive interview with Martin Brundle, Grosjean explained exactly what went through his head in those 28 seconds.

Grosjean tells his story

''I really thought I didn't want to end up like this. I was thinking about Niki Lauda and I really knew I didn't want to end up like this,'' Grosjean said in conversation with Sky Sports

''I somehow relaxed and it really felt like I was going to die. You then think about whether it will hurt and what goes first. That's a very scary feeling. Then I thought about my children and I knew I couldn't die. I climbed out, but I just saw my gloves burning. When I felt Ian (the doctor), then I really felt that I was still alive,'' Grosjean said.
