One year already? Looking back at Fernando Alonso’s first attempt at the Indy 500, and his incredible achievement of reaching the ‘fast nine’ in qualifying for the event.
The Spaniard qualified fifth for the race, the fastest rookie in the event and there were hopes that Alonso could win the race at his first attempt.
Alonso is not appearing at the event this year, instead sticking to his F1 commitments with McLaren at the Monaco Grand Prix.
He has already won the Monaco Grand Prix, which is one of the elusive Triple Crown.
