The pain and frustration is clearly palpable at Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton is silent on social media and Toto Wolff continues to express his frustration in the media about the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Despite the sadness, Wolff has looked at the bigger picture and admits that there are worse things in the world.
Max Verstappen managed to overtake Hamilton on the last lap of the race, making him world champion and thus preventing the Briton from winning his eighth world title. Frustration is high at the Mercedes racing stable, as the team's standards and values have not been respected. Yet the Mercedes team boss admits that there are more important things. "This is just Formula 1, it is just a sport. Much worse things happen out there and we shouldn’t fall in the trap of thinking this is the most important thing in the world," he says in the press conference on Mercedes' YouTube channel.

Will Hamilton continue to race?

The big question now is whether the seven-time world champion Hamilton will continue to drive for Mercedes in the coming years or whether he will end his career after this loss. The Austrian sincerely hopes he does continue, especially since he is the best driver of all time in his opinion. The team boss assumes that the 36-year-old driver is not going to give up easily. "He is at the peak of his game, but we have to overcome the pain that was caused upon him on Sunday. He is a man with clear values so he finds it difficult to understand that this has happened."
