Weather report in Bahrain: Threatening clouds but no rain

The latest weather reports from Sakhir in Bahrain show a series of very threatening clouds, but no rain is expected during the Bahrain Grand Prix later today, with lights out at 4.10pm BST/11.10am EST.

It's been a while since we've had a wet race in F1, really. Hungary had a very wet qualifying, and rain came into play in Belgium as well on the Saturday, but no real wet races like Brazil 2016.

Strong winds and soupy grey skies at the track. Feels like a storm is brewing. The polesitter is the first driver to arrive in the paddock. “Feels like it could rain. Just what I need for my first pole” he jokes. A wink, a smile, and he’s already into engineering.

In Sakhir today, the air is cooler than it was yesterday, with more wind as well, meaning more sand being kicked up onto the track. The cooler temperatures should make it easier on the tyres, that normally suffer in the Bahrain desert.

No wet race then, but a windy and cool one!
