Sebastian Vettel admitted to being at fault for a costly error that saw the Ferrari driver lose out against Lewis Hamilton wheel-to-wheel.
Having retaken second from Hamilton after the first round of pitstops, the Mercedes driver had closed the five-second gap to the Ferrari after the second pit stop phase to put Vettel under extreme pressure.
Battling for second, Vettel was forced to defend into turn four after the Briton had closed to within DRS range but spun by himself after Hamilton was able to overtake him around the outside.
After the race, Vettel admitted it was his mistake over team radio and also commented on his teammate's misfortunes after Charles Leclerc lost what was almost a certain win.
“Sorry guys, my mistake. I got surprised and lost the rear. Really sorry. And not sure about what I saw on TV, but I’m really sorry for Charles, please tell him that he drove an excellent race, very strong and he should have won it”
