Vesti: "For me the choice of Mercedes does not mean pressure"

Frederik Vesti can call himself a Mercedes junior from this year onwards. The Danish talent joined the German racing team earlier this year. Despite now being part of the team to beat in Formula 1, Vesti says he feels no extra pressure.

Vesti had a great season exploring Formula 3 in 2020. In his first season, he managed to win three races and finished a neat fourth in the championship. Vesti was announced as a Mercedes junior on 19 January 2021 and sees this as a great opportunity.

"Pressure is always there, ever since you start racing karts, but for me, the choice of Mercedes does not mean pressure, rather having a great opportunity to work with a group of extremely competitive and prepared people", Vesti said in a conversation with Motorsport.com.

"When I started to win we started to talk and they evaluated not only the positive moments but also how I reacted in the negative ones", continued the 19-year-old driver. Vesti has one goal for 2021: Winning the Formula 3 title.
