Max Verstappen has not forgotten his goal of becoming F1 World Champion despite Mercedes’ dominance in the current state of play.
Verstappen has finished either third or fourth in every race so far this season but is yet to beat a Mercedes driver at any race.
The Dutchman’s impressive driving has seen him compete with the Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc, but he is not in title contention again this season.
Verstappen is aiming to be closer to Mercedes in Canada this weekend, and admits that they need to do more to fight for the title.
He told ServusTV: “They have a high top speed. I am very motivated to end up on the podium. Of course I want to win, but now that Mercedes is so strong is not easy.

“We have to get closer anyway to be able to think of the world championship. Of course you always think about it, but ultimately you have to try to get the best out of it every weekend. We have done that so far, perhaps with the exception of Monaco, but for a championship title we have to do even better.”
