The four-time world champion is set to embark on his 12th season in Formula 1, with three years still remaining on the long-term deal he signed with the Milton Keynes-based outfit back in 2022.

The Dutchman found himself at the centre of intense summer transfer speculation, with persistent rumours linking him to Mercedes. Verstappen himself ultimately put an end to the talk, confirming he would remain at Red Bull for the upcoming season.

Speaking in an interview with Blick, the Dutchman admitted he was saddened by no longer having Helmut Marko by his side, following the Austrian’s departure shortly after the end of last season. He nevertheless reiterated his intention to see out his contract in full.

When asked whether he would still be on the grid at the age of 40, the Dutchman added: "At the age of 40, I might still be in the pits as team principal in another series."

Michael Schumacher was never just a legendary name to Verstappen growing up. Thanks to the close relationship between Schumacher and his father Jos, the former Ferrari star was a constant figure in Verstappen’s childhood, more like a trusted family friend than a distant hero.

The Dutchman revealed that his exposure to Formula 1 began remarkably early, recalling how he was already spending time in the pit lane with Schumacher when he was just five years old.
