Max Verstappen claims he doesn’t get caught up in the excitement that surrounds the Monaco Grand Prix. He suggests it’s just “like any other” race despite the fact he lives locally.
Verstappen, 20, is amongst the favourites to win on Sunday, but maybe the only driver who doesn’t feel the buzz ahead of F1’s biggest spectacle.
“For me, Monaco is a Grand Prix like any other,” Max said. “We’ve got a good car, now we’ve got to take advantage of the car’s potential and hopefully get a nice result," said Verstappen.
It’s a track that typically suits Red Bull because of the tight, slow corners. Max was quick to admit this in his latest interview and emphasised how important Saturday is.
“We have too little power compared to the others, and we do not have a special qualifier mode either. We are usually four or five tenths behind, but in Monaco maybe only two-tenths because of the characteristics.

“Qualifying is so important here. You have to start at the front because you can hardly overtake.”
