This is why Verstappen is not a fan of the new regulations in 2026

Max Verstappen has expressed his doubts about the 2026 rule changes. The three-time world champion is not a fan of 'active' aerodynamics. He believes those who have drawn up the regulations have slightly missed the mark by implementing this phenomenon in Formula 1 again.

With active aerdynamics, teams can make movable parts to create precisely more or less downforce. Verstappen thinks introducing this idea will cause problems in the long run. "I think we should stay away from active aerdoynamics," he argued. "It makes it all much more complicated. We should really just keep it as simple as possible, but I don't see that happening with the current regulations for 2026."

The Dutchman believes drivers should have more say in the future of the sport. "Of course there is a drivers' union, but it doesn't really have a voice. That's part of the problem. It remains a political game."

Verstappen, therefore, also realises that the regulations for 2026 cannot be changed again. "Everyone is committed though and Audi has obviously come into the sport thanks to the new rules, you can't just change that. But it probably won't look as rosy as presented now. Hopefully I will be positively surprised."
