Update | P20 Mazepin given three place grid penalty for impeding Norris

Nikita Mazepin and Lando Norris have been called to the stewards for an incident which took place in Q1. Traffic at the end of the lap is always a problem in Barcelona and during qualifying in 2021, it was no different.

After looking at the videos, the stewards determined that Mazepin was told about Norris' whereabouts, Mazepin's decision to pull out and re-pass Raikkonen and Tsunoda cleared impeded Norris who "lost significant time". The stewards accept that it was a tricky situation for the drivers. Mazepin gets one penalty point and a three place grid drop.

Norris was on a fast push lap but joined the back of the pack. Drivers at the back were trying to get enough space between themselves and the driver in front. Norris' lap was ruined. He dropped down into the elimination zone but improved the second time around to move fastest. Keep an eye on this page for the result of the meeting between the drivers.
