Toto Wolff believes strong relationship with Lewis Hamilton has led to success

Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff have worked together ever since the Brit joined Mercedes in 2013. They have a strong relationship and this is part of the reason for their success together.

Wolff believes that Hamilton has changed and developed not only as a driver but as a person since he joined Mercedes.

"Yes, when I met him, he fought mainly for himself, his self-interest, both in sporting and in financial terms. That is not surprising: all young drivers are like that. Now he is a team player. Hiring for a job, but someone who really fully belongs to the crew," Wolff said to NOS.nl.

"We know each other through and through. There is a huge relationship of trust. That is because of the highs and lows that we have experienced. This is an intense, professional and demanding world. Hard as well. That makes a relationship extremely close.

"We have a lot of contact. Even outside of the race weekends. We know when we need to talk and at what moments we should just leave each other alone. We know exactly what we can do, even if we don't communicate."
