Formula 1 is back in Zandvoort and that is largely due to the rise of Max Verstappen. David Coulthard talks to Motorsport.com about Verstappen's chances at home, and for the rest of the season.

Return to Holland

For the first time in 36 years there will be a race in Zandvoort. The Dutch Grand Prix is back on the F1 calendar, and although the organization has done a lot of work to make this happen, it is mainly the rise of Verstappen and his fans that have brought this about.
''I never expected to see Formula 1 return to Zandvoort, but I also never predicted the birth of Max Verstappen and that he would generate so much passion and energy from the Dutch fans and the Orange Army,'' says the former Formula 1 driver.
''I think this weekend is it for Max. This track requires complete faith and dedication. He knows this track and he has driven there before. I think it will take a few laps for Lewis Hamilton to feel at home as well, but I really think this is a circuit made for someone like Max.''

Chance of the title for Verstappen

Should Verstappen win at Zandvoort, he will do good business for the world championship. With a win, the Dutchman moves back to the top of the standings, and according to Coulthard, Verstappen could also occupy that position at the end of the season.
''They are two different drivers at two different points of their careers. On the one hand you have Lewis, a seven-time world champion who is nearing the end of his career. And on the other hand you have Max, a 23-year-old young and hungry professional. Both deserve the world title, but I think this is the right time for Max. The time is right for Max to take his first world title. It would be great for himself, but also for the sport'', concludes the Scot.
