Mercedes reach boiling point: Confrontation between Hamilton and Wolff

The difficult situation at Mercedes seems to have reached a boiling point. After Lewis Hamilton failed to reach Q3 for the second time this season, visible irritation has arisen between him and team boss Toto Wolff.

Due to the rainy conditions in Imola, there was some hope for Mercedes that porpoising would play a lesser role, but the problem continues to haunt the German racing stable. In addition, the team simply lacks speed, about which Hamilton has repeatedly expressed his displeasure.

Again on Friday, the Briton could be heard on the team radio complaining about the large gap to the competition. Subsequently, both Hamilton and teammate George Russell failed to advance beyond Q2, causing the tensions between them to reach a new high.

After the Brit got out of his car before Q2 was flagged, a confrontation took place with his visibly irritated team boss. The latter goes at his driver pretty hard, for whom the measure seems to be full as well. The two then turn their backs to each other in irritation.
