Spa-Francorchamps unfazed by Dutch GP competition

Belgian Grand Prix promoter Andre Maes has insisted his team are unfazed by the potential return of the Dutch Grand Prix to the Formula One calendar.

Earlier this month, Dutch media revealed that a deal was close between Formula One's management and the Dutch Grand Prix organisers.

The owners of Zandvoort have looked into the possibility, largely by the rise of Max Verstappen and the popularity that has grown surrounding Formula One in the Netherlands ever since.

At the moment, with no Dutch Grand Prix, the Verstappen fans all come to Spa-Francorchamps, which is nearby to support their hero.

But Maes, who has been in charge of the Belgian Grand Prix for over three decades; has insisted that there are no worries just yet about the potential competition they could be about to receive.

"It is only natural that we constantly have to fight for our place," Maes said to F1i.com. "We do not veto a race in the Netherlands, but we have asked if there are plans.
