Sergey Sirotkin admits the Spanish Grand Prix was “very painful” not only as a result of the performance but also his seat!
Sirotkin is 1 of only 2 drivers to not score a point so far this season. The other being Romain Grosjean. The Williams performance hasn’t been good enough by their standards.
The team have scored just 4 points so far coming from Lance Stroll. Sirotkin’s 14th place finish at the weekend wasn’t even close to getting points as he was lapped 3 times.
“It’s the toughest race I ever did so far,” the Russian told motorsport.com.
“I had a good start, a good launch, and then obviously I was caught in turn 3 with those spins and the crash ahead, and I was just in a position where I completely could not see where I was going.”
This was just a minor thing compared to what he experienced during the rest of his race. An uncomfortable seat!
“Then I started to struggle with - let’s say it this way to not upset anyone - the problem is with seat comfort,” the rookie added.
“We had it since the beginning of the year and we never really (had) the opportunity to properly look and improve it.”
A very strange, bizarre issue with the Williams car and is sure to be not the only one. They have a lot of catching up to do.
