Sim teammate of Verstappen: 'Max wants to be the best at everything'

Max Verstappen is not only fanatical on the track in Formula 1, but the Dutchman is fanatical with everything he does. Sim racer Gianni Vecchio is Verstappen's teammate at Team Redline and he talks about his relationship with the 25-year-old reigning world champion.

"We don't just do sim racing. We play a lot of FIFA together, we play a lot of Call of Duty together, we play games like Among Us. A friendship has developed, we share a lot of the same interests," Vecchio told Motorsport.com during an interview . " Max wants to be the best at everything he does," Vecchio continued.

Vecchio himself hails from Ingolstadt, Germany, where he has been interested in racing games since a young age. He has been part of Verstappen's sim racing team for five years. The two-time world champion in motorsport's king class feels like a mentor to him, he explains.

"As I said, it's about having someone who pushes you. If he sees that you put in the effort and really shows you want to move the team and yourself forward and that you have the same goal as him to win everything, then he is one of the best people to meet," Vecchio said. "He gives a lot. It' s incredible to have someone like that pushing you, giving tips and also being a kind of mentor," he concluded.
