Sergio Perez has urged fans to show respect for Lando Norris amid recent booing incidents. “We have to have respect for the guy who won the race, always.”
- Sergio PerezThe Mexican driver, in an interview via Reuters, weighed in on the boos directed at Norris by
F1 fans, labelling it not a nice experience. Perez, however, acknowledged that it is still pleasing to see fans express their passion for the sport.
"I don't think it's nice, obviously, to be booing the guy who won a race. But at the same time, it's also good to see the feelings of the fans in terms of how passionate they are,” he said.
The
Cadillac F1 driver concluded by stating that while fans are allowed to express their feelings, it must be done with respect.

“But I think it’s got to be done with respect. We have to have respect for the guy that won the race, always. But, it’s how it is."
Norris has found himself in the crosshairs of fans’ boos over the last two Grands Prix in Mexico and most recently in Sao Paulo. The
McLaren driver also commented on the boos he received after winning the race in Brazil.

Earlier,
Norris reacted to the chorus of boos he was met with on the Brazil GP podium. The 26-year-old stated it’s not the nicest thing to hear after winning a race.
The McLaren driver also revealed that he has previously struggled with such incidents throughout much of his career, including the early stages of this season.
Norris concluded by saying he will remain true to himself and continue to deliver his best despite fans’ opinions.
