George Russell has finished the second and final day of the Bahrain test on top of the timesheets for Mercedes.
The Williams driver, who is in the Mercedes driver academy, recorded a 1:29:029, finishing ahead of Sergio Perez in second and Sebastian Vettel in third, driving for Racing Point and Ferrari respectively.
Russell, who won the F2 championship last season has failed to score points in either of his first two races for the uncompetitive Williams team.
After the day’s testing, Russell said: “Timings don’t mean a lot in testing; however, it’s always a special experience to be top of the timesheets.
“We had a productive day today, the team learned a lot of things to help them progress. Driving a different car than usual, I personally also learned a lot which I can take back to further improve my driving.”
