George Russell has completed his first season with Lewis Hamilton as a teammate. The talented Briton has enjoyed the partnership and even managed to finish above his compatriot in the world championship. Whereas Hamilton's year was good for 240 points, Russell scored 35 more.
However, it does not mean that Russell already considers himself better than Hamilton. According to him, resisting the seven-time world champion was a tough task and he was far from being able to do better in all race weekends.
"Psychologically, you need to set yourself up for small failures. I’m not going to beat him every single session, every quali, every race. That’s just absolutely not gonna happen," he realistically stated in an interview with The Race. He is convinced that this will not happen next season either.

Russell confident

"I never doubted myself. I always believed in myself. But if you go with the mindset ‘I’m going to beat Lewis Hamilton 95% of the time’, you’re going to come away disappointed," ended Russell, who agreed that it has been clever that he has kept Hamilton behind him. Next season, Russell hopes to take the next step with Mercedes.
